Select Board Meeting Agenda 7/22/17
SATURDAY, JULY 22, 2017

10:00 AM

Monterey Town Hall
Schools are among our most important community ventures. We imagine, plan, design, build, staff, administer, populate, furnish, transport, monitor, examine, fund, then expect and hope for outstanding results and a bright future for our young students. The Berkshires and the Southern Berkshire Regional School District, of which we are a member town, are facing challenges, including declining enrollment, tight budgets and uncertainty. We’d like to learn more about your experiences and thoughts on Monterey’s role in providing educational opportunities.

On Saturday, July 22, we will hold an informal discussion to hear from you. We’ll be discussing experiences, expectations, and your thoughts on what the town can do to encourage and support the best academic opportunities for our families. Questions we’ll discuss will include:

Where do your children attend school?

Are you satisfied with their educational progress?

What are the positives and negatives about the experiences?

Have you chosen in district, choice, private school or home school options?

What factors determine your decisions on schools?

What would you like to see in educational options for your children?

What are you planning for your children’s future?

What are your thoughts on Monterey’s participation in SBRSD?

Do you have ideas about how Monterey might improve educational resources ?

What might the future hold for the Monterey kindergarten?

Please join us, and share this invitation with anyone we may have missed on our email list.  The focus will be on the present and future, that is, families who will have children attending pre-school through high school in coming years, but all are welcome.
